Frequently asked questions
What is Mapped?
Mapped helps you find bankers and analysts to reach out to for coffee chats, drafts a personal first email to each one, and helps you book the conversation.
It ranks people by what you have in common, using your resume and the details on your profile. Every email is sent from your own Gmail or Outlook address, and only after you approve it.
Who is Mapped for?
Mapped is built for people recruiting for investment banking: college students from freshman through senior year, MBA students, and early-career professionals.
You need to live in the United States and be 18 or older to create an account.
Do I need a resume to get started?
Yes. Getting started begins with Hey, upload your resume., because Mapped ranks people for you from it. It must be a PDF under 5 MB. Drop it anywhere on the page or select upload. Mapped starts reading it as soon as the upload finishes and opens People.
How long does getting started take?
Mapped starts reading your resume and ranking people as soon as the upload finishes. When your top 10 are ranked, it writes their drafts right away, so they are usually ready when you select Generate emails.
Finish your profile takes most people 10 to 15 minutes. Detailed answers to the open-ended questions take longer, and they're worth it.
Can I use Mapped on my phone?
Yes. On a small screen, the main pages move to a bar at the bottom of the screen. Your account menu sits at the top, and the More actions button beside it opens notifications, Report a bug, Send feedback, and the theme toggle.
Everything works on mobile, but long tasks like Finish your profile and reviewing drafts are easier on a laptop or desktop.
How does Mapped decide who to show me and in what order?
Mapped compares the details in your profile, such as your school, experience, activities, and goals, with each person's professional background. People you share the most meaningful overlap with rank highest.
The number next to each person is their rank. In the dossier you'll also see a match score, or No score when there isn't enough to score them.
Where does the information about people come from?
People's details come from their public professional profiles, such as their role, firm, work history, and education.
If something looks out of date, the person may not have updated their public profile yet.
What does the AI use to personalize my emails?
Each draft draws on your profile (including your resume, if you've uploaded one) and the person's professional background. It usually opens with something you actually have in common.
While you review, the side panel shows the person's background with what you have in common marked under their name, so you can check every personal detail.
Which email account do my emails come from?
Emails go out from the Gmail or Outlook account you connected, so they come from your own address and appear in your Sent folder. Mapped only sends emails you've approved. To connect or change your account, see the Outreach section on Account.
Will people know I used Mapped?
No. Recipients see a normal email from your own address, with no Mapped branding. They see exactly the subject and message you approved.
Does Mapped send follow-ups?
Not yet. Mapped sends only the first email you approve to each person. Nothing else goes out automatically.
To follow up, reply to your original email from your own Gmail or Outlook, so it stays in the same thread.
Which email and calendar accounts can I connect?
You can connect a Google account (Gmail and Google Calendar) or a Microsoft account (Outlook and Microsoft 365 Calendar). Email sending and calendar are added separately on the same account. Mapped asks for email sending before your first send and for calendar the first time you book a meeting, and you can add either one from the Outreach section on Account.
Can I use Mapped without giving inbox access?
Yes. That's how Gmail always works, and how Outlook works until you turn on inbox reading. You can still find people, write drafts, send approved emails, and see them in Outbox. Without inbox reading, Mapped can't see replies, so replies won't appear in Messages or in Analytics, and Mapped can't suggest a meeting from a reply.
How does Mapped know when I'm free?
It combines your weekly availability with busy times from your connected calendar. Times that overlap existing events are never offered. If the calendar can't be read at that moment, Mapped offers no times rather than guessing.
What plans does Mapped have?
There are two plans:
- Basic: free, with 20 drafts a month and access to up to 1,000 profiles. No payment method needed.
- Pro: $50 a month for 1,000 drafts a month, up to 250 in any 7 days, and access to all profiles.
Limits apply to drafts only. Once a draft exists, you can schedule it. Both plans are shown side by side at the top of the Plan page.
What counts toward my limit?
Every draft counts, including regenerations. Sending doesn't count, so once a draft exists you can schedule it. Deleting a draft doesn't give it back.
How do I cancel Pro?
Open Plan and select Cancel subscription. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, or until your free trial ends if you're on one. Then you move to Basic, and Plan shows Your plan changes to Basic on that date. Canceling during a free trial means you aren't charged.
Can I get a refund?
Cancelling doesn't automatically refund the current month. If a charge looks duplicated, incorrect, or unauthorized, or you'd like to request a refund, email support@mpped.com with your account email and the charge date. Never send your full card number.
Each request is reviewed individually.
What data does Mapped store about me?
Mostly what you give it and what you do in the app:
- Your account details and consent choices
- Your resume, profile, and preferences
- Searches, drafts, sent emails, replies, notes, reminders, and meetings
- Connection details for your mailbox and calendar
- Billing records if you subscribe
The Privacy Policy lists everything in detail.
Is my Gmail or Calendar data sold or used to train AI?
No. Data from your Google account is used only for the email and calendar features you use. It's never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train AI models.
